This is a quite energetic, moderate to strenuous 8 mile circular walk*** from Church Stretton.
The walk begins with a constant, gradual, ascent up Carding Mill Valley on a good wide gravel footpath. We will make plenty of stops so that you can catch your breath and admire the stunning scenery.
The route continues along the top of the Long Mynd with impressive views across Shropshire and the Welsh Borders (weather permitting). We then descend past the steeped sided Ashes Hollow and Callow Valley on good paths. which may be slippery and muddy in places in wet weather.
The last section of the walk is through fields and oak woodland back into Church Stretton in time for afternoon tea!
Walking poles are advisable. From the top of the Long Mynd there are shorter routes back to Church Stretton if required.
Bring a packed lunch.
