Shrewsbury – women only weekend
Shrewsbury is a lovely area that has a real feel good factor. The town itself has lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and a lot of alternative book shops
plus a really good tourist information centre. It has a railway station so should be easy to get to from all areas.
There is plenty to do here and nearby for any non-walkers. There are over 600 listed buildings in Shrewsbury many of them Tudor.
There is a Museum and Art Gallery in The Square, plus a Castle and Abbey. There are still traces of medieval Shrewsbury in the maze of narrow streets
with funny names in the centre of town.
It is famous for “the Shuts” --the narrow alleyways that criss-cross the town and reveal the medieval town plan.
The River Severn forms an almost perfect loop around the town.
The Quarry is a picture perfect 29 acre park, right in the centre with beautiful flowers and flower beds.
At its heart is The Dingle, a sunken flower garden with lake designed by Percy Thrower who was the parks Superintendent for 28 years.
Women find their own accommodation.
There is lots of information about Shrewsbury on this link including accommodation, click here.
There will be a walk on Friday afternoon, one on Saturday and one on Sunday--some women stay over Sunday night as well depending on where they live so
an option of a short walk and lunch on Monday as well, which we will decide on the weekend.
An evening meal will be arranged, more info asap.
