The upper Goyt Valley
A moderate 7½ mile walk over undulating terrain with a total ascent of 1400 feet.
Our route includes a minor road, stony tracks, the former Cromford and High Peak Railway and open moorland. The moorland is reached by a short but steep ascent leading to excellent views of the Goyt Valley and its two reservoirs.
Some of the paths are decidedly uneven and may be muddy. Boots are essential and a walking pole is recommended.
As it is the nesting season for birds, dogs must be kept on a short lead when crossing the moors (see photo).
